Kathmandu: At least 41 people have lost their lives in disaster-related incidents since the onset of the pre-monsoon season this year, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The Authority reported that 257 individuals have been injured and property worth millions of rupees damaged due to various pre-monsoon disasters including lightning, storms, and heavy rainfall. The pre-monsoon season, which typically spans from March to May, has already shown a significant impact across the country.
In a notice issued today, the NDRRMA highlighted that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is occurring in various parts of the country, influenced by local and westerly weather systems. This pattern is expected to persist for the next few days.
Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and follow weather forecasts and disaster warnings issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. They also encouraged communities to support disaster preparedness and work together to build safer environments.
